The University utilises the services of a third party to advertise available properties in Bolton via the internet. The result is a more professional service, available anywhere in the world at any time, offering more accessible information about your privately rented accommodation to students and potential students. Feedback from our students has been very positive.
Studentpad.co.uk, the software provider, currently provide a service to over seventy Universities and Colleges around the UK and now supplies us with a University of Bolton specific accommodation website – www.boltonstudentpad.co.uk| - which will advertise your houses, flats and lodgings. In addition, the site provides practical advice about renting accommodation to students. The house/flat adverts contain details of the property you want to let and, if you desire, photographs of it as well. The student user can make a targeted and specific search of houses to match their needs. This reduces the time spent in hunting and lessens the possibility of students viewing houses and flats that may not be suitable for their needs.The benefits to landlord/ladies are proven to be many; information about houses and flats is much more accessible, the details of properties are displayed clearly and can be e-mailed between friends. This allows information to be transmitted easily and, therefore, improves the publicity for your properties.
As a landlord/lady, you will not need to have access to the Internet yourself; the students can contact you by telephone. However, if you do have internet access, you will now also be able to receive contacts by email as well as having access to be able to make changes to your advert. You will also be able to use the property management software, which will help you in your day-to-day tasks e.g. automatically send emails to students reminding them of their rent. We will advertise basic information about you as a landlord on the studentpad website – only your name and contact number. Neither your personal address nor the house number of the property you are advertising for let will be displayed. You will have no need to contact studentpad directly as we operate the whole of the system - including making any changes to your adverts - from the University.
The University does not profit from this project but does have to cover the expenses of the undertaking – meeting the costs of maintaining the website, the adverts and ensuring that your details are up-to-date at all times. The charges are:
£20 first property for six months
£18 for each subsequent property for six months.
Payment by credit/debit card information over the telephone - in which case, please ring 01204 903011. You will also be required to send a Gas Safety Certificate were applicable for each property. The original certificate will be returned to you.
