Clinical Lead for MSc Physician Associate Programme
Dr Ambar Basu has joined the University of Bolton as an Honorary Senior Lecturer and the Medical Lead for the Physician Associate MSc Course. He is a Consultant Physician in General Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Medicine at Bolton Hospital NHS Trust and Bolton Diabetes Centre.
He is the Training Programme Director for Diabetes and Endocrinology training for specialist registrars at the Health Education Northwest.
He is the Royal College of Physician (London) tutor and Specialty Tutor for Medicine at Bolton Hospital NHS Trust. He is a Royal College of Physicians accredited PACES examiner. He is a professional member of Society for Endocrinology and Diabetes UK.
He is the Fellow of Royal College of Physicians at Edinburgh and London. His particular interest is in obesity and renal disease in diabetes. He is a well-known specialist in calcium and parathyroid disorders and well known locally and nationally. He is very keen on engaging the community in tackling the challenges of diabetes. He is working with the Diabetes UK in developing community champion project in Bolton.
