Make Your Mark As A Mature Student

20/10/2021

Mature students are an important part of campus life at the University of Bolton. Often offering a different perspective, our mature students help to make the student experience so much more diverse and inclusive.

Flexible Mature Study

As a mature university student, your degree may be connected to your career progression; you may combining it with work, or you may be pursuing an entirely new area of knowledge and study. The decision-making process around mature study can be very different from post-school. It is likely that you have dependencies to consider and you might not be sure that you can take on a degree with all your other responsibilities. We understand that a degree can take a lot of your time, but our courses can be very flexible, with part-time pathways for students who want a more gradual experience. At the same time, a full-time degree can see you graduate in just three years, depending on your subject choice.

As a university, we believe that two of our greatest strengths are diversity and support – we’ve ranked both No1. in England and No.2 in England and Wales for social inclusion*. We encourage students from all backgrounds to study with us, but we support you through your time with us and, as a mature undergraduate student, you’re no exception. Our award-winning support team are experienced at helping students work through many kinds of issues, from juggling work/life balance to helping you make the most of the learning resources on campus.

Study, Develop, Grow

As a mature student, you may be highly-focused on your degree programme. Mature students often have a clearer goal in mind, with their degree only a part of their overall plan. However, life at university can often see mature students shine in a way that they hadn’t anticipated. You’re bringing with you many of the real-life skills that our post-school undergraduates will be developing as they study. Your input is invaluable to the course and you will become an integral part of our supportive and positive feel on campus. This is why we talk about #UniAsItShouldBe.

Ensuring that you are happy with us is paramount and because of this ethos we’ve been voted No. 1  for student satisfaction for the last four years running **. With a strong focus on student progression and wellbeing, our teaching and support teams will help you to realise and meet your goals, whether it is moving into  a brand-new career or taking the next step in your current role.

If you would like to find out more how we will support you as a mature student, our team is on-hand to talk with you. Call +44 (0)1204 900 600 or email enquiries@bolton.ac.uk.
