Bolton; Giving you smaller class sizes and more support

17/10/2022

“My main reason for choosing the University of Bolton was because of its small class sizes. This enables interactive lessons and quality education through one-to-one support.”

- Joseph Benson | International Management Student small class sizes at Bolton

2020/21 saw 2.66 million students studying in higher education, with 1.94 million of these being undergraduates. It’s becoming common for universities to have up to 200 students in class. The small classes sizes we offer at the University of Bolton is proud to be an exception to this; a key reason why we have been voted 6th out of 121 universities for feedback satisfaction in The Guardian Good University Guide for 2023.

Benefits of a small and inclusive university

If you’ve done your research about Bolton University online or even visited us in person at an Open Day, you’ll know about our small, lovely campus. It’s the fact that we are smaller in comparison to other universities that makes us stand out for all the right reasons! It’s part of how we can offer the supportive learning environment that is a core part of #UniAsItShouldBe.

At Bolton, we go one step further; we know our students by name, and not their student ID number. That’s how we have been voted first for Student Satisfaction for five consecutive years*. We pride ourselves on creating a positive and friendly environment to ensure that our students receive the university experience they deserve.

Gaining one-to-one support

At Bolton University, we believe that you should feel you are getting what you are paying for. That’s why our students are assigned a dedicated personal tutor to support them throughout their studies; someone who is their first point-of-contact and will help them with everything and anything they need. What also sets Bolton University apart is the classes we provide of just 20-30 students. Not only does this give us a better student-to-staff ratio, but it also allows lecturers to adapt to different students’ learning styles; we understand that every student's brain works differently, and that’s just one reason why we are happy to help.

Come and enjoy #UniAsItShouldBe!
