The University is in a fantastic location for me with a very short commute and easy access. There is also onsite parking at our building which makes the universities accessibility a lot easier.
The lecturers are always there to help when needed and I've learned a great deal from them. They will take the time to go through anything that you have not understood and need extra help with.
There is an onsite café for hot/cold food and drinks and also vending machines for out of hours use. There is also water coolers, microwaves, kettles and some hot drink making facilities which are free of charge to use.
They're all really helpful and try their best to help you succeed. If you ask they will go above and beyond to ensure you're ok and on track in your studies.
I hope to complete my studies and continue on to an STP (scientific training program) to become a clinical scientist and work in a maxillofacial/prosthetics department.
Its been a tough transition from 1st year during covid into a full-time 2nd year course but the lecturers have done everything possible to make this a smooth and enjoyable process. Although it's not only been easy any questions or issues have been dealt with and resolved with as little disruption as possible.
As a mum of 5 who has a husband whose work took him away to London most of the week, I've not been able to do much for myself over the last few years. But now my husband is home and the children are in school I'm able to do something that is my own and gives me the ability to achieve something that will make them proud and able to support them.
Dental technology. Creating fixed and removable prosthodontics and orthodontic appliances. As my kids say.... I make teeth :)
It is a multicultural university in a diverse and friendly town that suits me a lot. The thing that appealed to me the most was the set-up (equipment and machinery were all latest, worth £4.8 million) for the Dental Technology course at the Centre of Dental Sciences.
The one thing that stands out for me in the Dental Technology course is that it has both, theoretical and practical modules so it makes us (students) understand the science behind dental appliances/restorations that are being fabricated for the patients. Additionally, it feels more engaging as we deal with real-life cases during work placements.
Overall facilities are quite good. Students have access to the main library 24/7, including weekends.
The tutors are very supportive and are always trying to improve students’ experience. They are easily approachable and provide different kinds of learning resources to help us consolidate knowledge in various ways.
I did attend an open day the year before I applied to see the courses that the University of Bolton was offering. It was really helpful as all my queries were answered in detail which aided me to explore my interest and applying for the right course.
After graduation, I intend to work in a hospital setting with a dental team where I can interact more with the patients.
Since we have small groups (due to practical sessions) there is more interaction, and it feels like a small family. The lecturers are always happy to help with clarifying any information and they genuinely want to help us do well- it is nice to feel that they care!
