Testimonials

Joe Guest

Senior Engineer, R G Parkins & Partners Ltd | 2018

"I undertook my Civil Engineering degree at the University of Bolton on a part-time basis on day release. The engineering lecturers provided a relaxed and friendly environment, which encouraged me to challenge and explore new concepts in what can be very complex subjects. This environment was teamed with all the help and support that I could have needed.

During my course, there were various opportunities for me to get hands-on practical experience. The university provides an ideal balance between the theoretical and practical learning aspects. One of the key advantages within the Civil Engineering course was that the lecturers had come from an experienced background within the industry itself, and many were still very active within the wider engineering community. This not only enabled the learning to be fully up to date but also enabled learning to be presented in a relevant and real-world situation.

I graduated in 2013 and the University of Bolton and the engineering department was the perfect complement to my work and set me up to proceed with confidence in my career. It has acted as a solid foundation for further learning and progression."

Elliot Downs

Motorsport Technology | 2017

"Since starting my degree at the University of Bolton, I’ve gained knowledge both inside and outside the classroom which has helped me to plan my future career in Engineering Management. I completed the entire 2018 season of the British Rallycross Championship which we won, and I have also been able to gain experience with a year supporting a Mercedes GT4 car in the British GT Championship. Both of these experiences have enabled me to develop my knowledge of how race teams operate, and helped me to see the management of performance teams first-hand. I don’t think I could have done any of this without the opportunities I have had since starting my degree in BSc (Hons) Motorsport Technology at the University of Bolton."

Melanie Blinkinship

BSc Hons Construction Management | 2014

"In 2014, I started a Foundation degree in Construction and Surveying at the University of Bolton that included a work placement module. After successfully completing the course, I secured employment with Mott MacDonald Bentley. Having had a fantastic experience at the University of Bolton I progressed my studies on a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management. I continued my studies at the University of Bolton due to small class sizes, genuine passion from the lecturer towards an individual’s progression regardless of academic level. I continued enjoying my studies at the university and took part in site visits, construction trips to London, whilst also receiving support and networking opportunities around supporting Women in Construction. I graduated from the university in 2018 with a first-class BSc Hons in Construction Management."
