How to be a Sustainable Student

Slowing the rate of climate change means all of us making, small changes to how we live and work. With University life already being so busy, just how can students be more sustainable?

Student life follows a busy schedule and so even though you probably know how to be green, with so much to do and so much happening every day, being eco-friendly can seem like a big ask. But as these seven hints and tips show, there is no reason why you can’t make eco-friendly changes to become a more sustainable student.

1 Ditch paper…

The world is now digitally focused, and that means you no longer have to bulk your bag with notebooks and pens. Opt for digital note-taking with a tablet or on your smartphone. You can store this safely on the device so when you need to consult your notes, you have them to hand. It might also be possible to submit assignments electronically too, great for reducing your paper consumption even more.

2… but power down

Electronic gadgets make student life so much easier, but many of us still have a habit of leaving them on standby. Powering down gadgets, from TVs to PCs and laptops, and unplugging chargers when not in use save you money as well as the environment.
