Mental Health Advisor Guidance

Mental Health Advisor

The university employs a Mental Health Advisor whose role is to provide comprehensive mental health assessments and support for students. Whether it's complex mental health needs, students experiencing a crisis or deterioration in their mental state and/or mood, we can offer appropriate support and where there is a need indicated, signposting information to appropriate external and internal health care and support providers.

Support includes new initiatives to develop and implement short term focused interventions to support students experiencing for example difficulties with sleep, time management, negative thoughts, accessing disability support allowance, poor motivation, maintaining personal safety and the safety of others, crisis planning and where appropriate learning supports.

The Mental Health Advisor will be responsible for the formulation and provision of a variety of workshops and groups to promote positive mental health at the Life Lounge, throughout the year, and to support students experiencing difficulties at university.

This service is completely free and confidential.

To book in with the Mental Health Advisor please complete the registration form here.

If you are concerned that a student is a significant risk to themselves or others, in the event of an emergency on university premises, please contact Security using extension 3700 or 666.

In the event that the student is not on university premises or you are concerned that the student's life is at risk please contact the Police and Ambulance raising concern for welfare using the telephone number 999 alerting Security afterwards as to the actions you have taken.
