Industry expertise in the classroom

Our lecturers are not just chosen for their quality teaching, industry expertise is also an important factor. With connections to local and industry-related employers, our supportive lecturers are there to guide our students on the right path to a successful career; through practical workshops taught in our students' state-of-the-art facilities, and placements that provide experience in ways that mirror real-life work.

Support throughout your experience

We encourage our students to start considering their career plans earlier than most universities; that’s why at any stage of your university journey, you can call in to the Careers and Employability Team for a discussion with our award-winning support staff. They’ll be there to help you assess your personal development, using programmes like our Graduate Attributes Matrix for Employment to keep you on track and record your achievements, providing a solid foundation for your career.

As a Bolton student, you will also become aware of our Bolton Award programme. An employability scheme designed to give our students the all-important skills that employers will be looking for when entering the workplace. Let’s take a look at what students can expect to get out of participating in the award:

- Achievement that is verified by Bolton University which can appear on The Higher Education Achievement record (HEAR)
- Extensive access and support from our professional careers team
- Gain work experience to boost your CV
- Meet new employers and industry contacts

Students can start the programme at any point of their studies, regardless of whether they are first-year or a PhD student; with the aim of ensuring that our students graduate with more than just a degree.

Our graduates can also retain full access to the Careers Service for three years after graduation; helping you to make a smooth transition from student life to employment, whichever career you choose to pursue.

Courses with prospects

Graduating from University might be the single most important thing you can do when it comes to launching a successful career. In 2021, average graduate salaries in England were up £1,500 from the previous year at £36,000. That’s £10,000 higher than non-graduate salaries. Graduates are more likely to find highly skilled, full-time employment, with the UK employment rate currently 86.7% compared to 70.2% for non-graduates.

The University of Bolton will help you to turn your hard work into an exciting and rewarding career, whichever field of study you choose.
