Students and staff from the University of Bolton Group gathered to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in conflicts around the world at a moving ceremony for Armistice Day.
The service on the University campus was led by Bolton College Principal Bill Webster who stressed it was important to reflect and remember those who had given their lives over the years.
Seventeen-year-old Mia Norwood, from Salford, who is studying Public Services at Bolton College, read a poem entitled ‘Soldiers’, before The Last Post was sounded by bugler Peter Moss.
A poppy wreath was also laid at the foot of the flagpole in front of Senate House.
Afterwards Mia, who is also a member of the Army Cadets, said: “I was really proud to be able to read out the poem today.
“My ambition is to be a Combat Medical Technician on the frontline, treating those who have been injured. It is something I have wanted to do since the age of six.”
