University's Jason Kenny Triumphs in Tokyo!

It is always an incredible feeling to be associated with a winner who is one of Bolton’s very own, and Jason Kenny has certainly done the University of Bolton proud by winning his eighth medal, at the Tokyo Olympics.

Born and bred in Bolton

Jason Kenny is a track cyclist who has quickly caught up with Sir Bradley Wiggins in terms of wins and has now passed him to become the most decorated British Olympian. It certainly helps that he’s been riding bikes all his life – you could say he literally began his career on the streets of Bolton. It is, however, a testament to his ability to train and focus that sees him freewheeling past the finish line again and again in first place. Kenny first hit the scene as a teenager, competing in junior track competitions at the Manchester Velodrome. Finishing in the top ten at just 16 years old, he went on to compete for GB; winning world titles at the junior championships. He soon found himself up against (and beating) some of the world’s best sprint riders; competing at senior level when he was still only a teenager.
