Alex qualified from the University of Manchester as an adult nurse in 2005, and worked for a short time in theatres at Rochdale infirmary. Following this, in 2008 she went on to achieve a BSc (Hons) in Midwifery studies. Her midwifery practice predominantly took place at the Royal Bolton Hospital where she practiced in all areas of midwifery. Alex is an experienced midwife who is very passionate about the role.
In 2015 Alex achieved a postgraduate diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) and worked in several areas across Bolton as part of the 0-19’s service for Bolton Foundation Trust. During this time, she studied additionally to allow her to also work as a SCPHN School Nurse.
Alex has always had an interest in teaching and learning and as a result took on the role of Practice Education Facilitator for the 0-19’s service in 2020. It was this that led her into a career in academia. She joined The University of Bolton in January 2022 and has taught on both nursing and midwifery courses.
