University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
The University of Bolton is committed to ensuring it is a supportive, welcoming and inclusive place for all students from all backgrounds.
The University also recognises the unique challenges students from a Care Experienced background may face when entering Higher Education. As such, the University has put support in place to assist these students from the pre-application stage through to graduation.
We have also provided training to our professional support staff in recruitment, admissions and student services on matters related to care experienced students to allow them to provide appropriate support and assistance where needed.
The term 'care-experienced' refers to anyone who has been or is currently in care or from a looked-after background at any stage in their life, no matter how short, including adopted children who were previously looked-after.
"The University offers the best support for care leavers, the members of staff are always very helpful, and I am always happy with the services I receive. Thank you for all your support over the years I’m glad I chose to study here"
"I would like to say how grateful I am to the University of Bolton for the support in the last 6 years. My three-year nursing degree took longer than it should have because I have experienced many setbacks and challenges and mental health related issues. I can hand on heart say that each time, the University of Bolton has been there when I have faced these challenges and I think if it wasn't for the support from each person I have been in contact with over the years, I wouldn't now be qualifying as a registered nurse. I am and will be forever grateful for the help and support I have had, particularly from Jonathan Stackhouse, Clare Hough, Kay Loxham and those in Student Services and the Life Lounge, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, from a student nurse with 2 small children coming from a difficult childhood that has worked tirelessly for 6 years to be better and give my children a life I never had. Thank you"
