BSc, MPH, PGCE, FHEA, FRSPH

Bimpe Kuti-Matekenya currently serves as the Programme Lead for Public Health Programmes in the School of Health and Society. She brings a strong background in exploring contemporary public health and social care issues and in identifying the critical factors needed for change, development, improvement, and innovation in Public Health and Social Care delivery and practice.

She has over ten years of experience in leadership roles across the health and social care sectors, spanning practice, academia, and research. Her work in public health practice has involved collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement health promotion interventions that address pressing health challenges, focusing on population health outcomes and the social determinants of health. She brings particular expertise in conducting community health needs assessments, designing public health programmes, and evaluating the impact of interventions on vulnerable populations. Her contributions have consistently aimed at improving health equity, reducing health disparities, and fostering community resilience.

Bimpe’s passion for understanding people’s lived experiences across health and social care informs her in-depth expertise in service user and carer involvement. She has specialized knowledge in embedding this involvement into practical settings and higher education training across various health and social care professional programmes. As the University Lead for Service User and Carer Involvement, she coordinates and advances the integration of service users and carers into all aspects of programme planning, curriculum design, student recruitment, teaching, and assessment.

Her primary research interests lie in understanding the dynamics of service user and carer involvement in health and social care, a topic she is currently pursuing through her PhD studies. Her research aligns closely with her broader goal of promoting health equity and addressing health disparities through active engagement. Drawing on years of experience studying the rationale for service user and carer involvement in care decision-making, her research focuses on how the active participation of individuals with lived experiences can drive meaningful changes and improve outcomes in public health and social care.
