Creating a future that makes a real difference

Ramya and Tracy’s story

No matter what your motivations are, launching a healthcare career will help you create a future that makes a real difference in people’s lives. In today’s piece, hear from two MBA students, Tracy Ibileye and Ramya Basutker on how they’ve found the programme and where they feel this degree will take them.

Following in her grandmother’s footsteps

Ramya’s motivation to join and persevere in the University of Bolton’s MBA in Global Healthcare Management programme is down to her trailblazing grandmother who completed her own MBA while working as a teacher and looking after three children. Ramya credits her example as a big driver in her life; while her newfound confidence in her leadership skills, intervention implementation and business management acumen, has made her more confident in the workplace. Bolton’s practical teaching, she says, is important for developing the crucial healthcare skills she’ll need to champion women's health like creating a policy brief or writing a business plan. Ramya suggests that if you have empathy, communication, teamwork and soft teaching skills; you’ll be successful in healthcare. Lastly, she explains that Bolton is a supportive and welcoming place where there’s no such thing as a stupid question. She feels ready to become an entrepreneur and take on women’s healthcare challenges.

Transforming healthcare in Africa

Tracy worked in Nigerian healthcare for many years, seeing firsthand what patient outcomes are like in developing countries like hers. She wants to save lives and change a system that has had a devastating impact on her patients when they were not able to pay for care. So, she’s returned to the UK for her postgraduate degree at the University of Bolton. Tracy went to another UK university for her undergraduate studies and feels that Bolton is a much more relaxing place to learn real-world healthcare skills. As an international student two times over, she’s seen her share of challenges, but Bolton provides a better, more inclusive atmosphere that has helped her to integrate better the second time around. Tracy is confident that anyone who has the drive to learn can thrive as an international student at Bolton.

About the programme

Both Ramya and Tracy are completing an MBA in Global Healthcare Management. This is a career development programme for senior healthcare practitioners, administrators, managers, senior management, doctors, dentists, senior nurses and other healthcare professionals. If that sounds like you, this programme will help you to develop your management expertise and learn advanced skills in business, management, leadership, quality improvement and research. All of our students rave about how warm, welcoming and supportive the environment at Bolton is, even if you’re an international student. That’s why we’re 1st for Student Satisfaction in the Complete University Guide 2024, for the fifth year in a row.

So, don’t wait any longer. Create a future that makes a real difference in the healthcare outcomes of people all over the world. Apply now and experience #UniAsItShouldBe just like Ramya and Tracy enjoyed.
