University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
10/03/2023
Did you know that 44% of teachers are planning to leave the profession by 2027?
If you’re wondering what this means for the industry’s future, it’s that job opportunities are increasing. This blog explores how the University of Bolton is proud to support your teaching ambitions, and how we plan to enhance your teaching training knowledge with our Centre of Pedagogy event.
Why are Teachers Important?
There’s no doubt that teaching is a challenging career due to the heavy workload, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. Teachers are key to creating a brighter future, and in some cases, keeping students on the right path. How great would it feel to hear about one of your students succeeding? For example, look at the journey of Musharaf Asghar from his appearance on Educating Yorkshire in 2013 to now. Musharaf captured attention on the show due to his severe stammer. He is also proof that teachers can change lives, as the work that his teacher, Mr. Burton did with him has had a major impact on his recent achievement of earning a degree in broadcast journalism. It’s because of this hard work that the 25-year-old is on the right path towards his dream career as a sports journalist.
What is Pedagogy?
You might be wondering what pedagogy is, right? Essentially, it refers to the study of teaching methods, including the aims of education and the ways that goals could be achieved. Pedagogy heavily relies on educational psychology, relating to the scientific theories of learning, and to a certain extent, the philosophy of education. Through understanding this, you should have a basic foundation of the value of education, and ultimately, what makes a great teacher.
