Professor Celestine Iwendi is a distinguished academic and internationally recognized expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI), with over 25 years of professional and academic experience. His groundbreaking contributions to AI, IoT, big data, and medical applications have positioned him as a leader in interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing global challenges.
As the Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Head of the Centre of Intelligence of Things (CIoTh) at the University, Professor Iwendi spearheads innovative research and educational programs that merge cutting-edge technology with practical solutions. Holding a PhD in Electronics Engineering, he possesses technical expertise in wireless sensor networks, machine learning (ML), and IoT. As a Senior Member of IEEE and Chartered Engineer, he has played a pivotal role in developing testing procedures, technical support systems, and safety compliance frameworks for electronic systems.
Professor Iwendi has been honoured by the Royal Academy of Engineering under the Exceptional Talent Scheme for his transformative contributions to AI and medical applications. He has also been featured in Elsevier's World's Top 2% Influential Scientists list for four consecutive years. His impactful research spans 13 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 92.6% of his publications internationally co-authored and 60.7% ranked among the top 25% most-cited globally.
Beyond his role at the University, Professor Iwendi serves as a Visiting Professor at five esteemed universities worldwide. He is also:

• Counsellor for the IEEE University of Bolton Student Branch
