Course Overview

High-quality palliative and end-of-life care (EoLC) requires a pro-active, compassionate approach driven by research-based best practice and continually strives to ensure person-centred, individualised care. This advanced professional development course is offered by the University of Bolton in partnership with local hospice providers who aim to deliver expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families. More information regarding the delivery and location of the course can be found by contacting the programme leader listed in the programme contacts section of this page.

This course is ideal for health or allied health and social care professionals involved in caring for individuals with life-limiting illnesses and end-of-life care and is not limited to individuals working in the hospice setting.

We offer a systematic understanding and critical awareness of current problems and new insights in this field. We'll support you in developing the theoretical knowledge and reflective abilities required so that you can deliver high-quality physical, social, spiritual and psychological care to those nearing the end of life and their families.

We'll also focus on helping you develop a deeper understanding of the importance of inter-professional, multidisciplinary and multi-agency working, as this is crucial in delivering EoLC. Skills in this complex and sensitive area of contemporary health and social care are in increasing demand.
