If you're an existing healthcare professional who aspires to manage and lead, then the University of Bolton's MBA Global Healthcare Management is ideal. By studying with us, you can build your understanding of the nature, business and management of healthcare provision while experiencing life at our supportive, student-focused, multicultural campus in the heart of the North West of England.

We combine study and training across the three areas of healthcare, management and research, guiding you as you deepen your understanding of business administration in the healthcare context. We'll support you in developing your knowledge of global health challenges, how they can be addressed, how healthcare systems can respond effectively, and the place of business management within health practice. Additionally, we'll focus on developing your strategic thinking and practice-focused research skills and highlight tools and resources that can help you develop practical solutions and transferrable skills.

The University of Bolton's MBA Global Healthcare Management programme will support you in developing a critical understanding of global healthcare management perspectives and how these shape business management practices in a local setting. You'll explore the global context of organisations and their workforce design, quality improvement, operations and financial management, as well as develop critical insight into innovation. We'll help you gain a critical understanding of healthcare systems and decision-making, preparing you to improve business and management practices in your workplace.

As a graduate of this MBA, you'll have the knowledge you need to be an effective manager with the skills and confidence to make excellent business, management and leadership decisions that advance your workplace and your career in the healthcare sector.

Teaching & Assessment

We aim to offer an inspirational student experience, and the University of Bolton's 'Teaching Intensive, Research Informed' approach underpins the design and delivery of this MBA. Our blended approach stimulates individual and collaborative learning and allows you to learn at times, places and at a pace that works effectively within your schedule. We fully appreciate that you have considerable prior practice experience and education, so we'll build upon and draw from your current knowledge and experience as you develop at the master's level.

A variety of teaching and learning strategies will help you acquire and develop appropriate concepts, knowledge and skills. The University's virtual learning environment (for instance, Moodle and other platforms) will host a range of online learning resources and communication tools to support your studies. These resources will combine with face-to-face/synchronous sessions that develop your subject knowledge, theoretical perspectives and professional/practical applications in a collaborative context. You can expect lectures, presentations, simulations delivered by tutors, seminar discussions, case study discussions and debates, small group workshops, small group tutorials and one-to-one tutorials.

You'll also need to spend a significant amount of time in guided independent study, such as general background reading, preparing for seminar activities and working on assignments. We're committed to supporting you throughout your learning journey, but our guidance will become less structured and prescriptive as time progresses. We'll expect you to demonstrate significant independence in your study, taking responsibility for managing your learning time and increasing autonomy as you progress through the programme.

Our assessment strategy is designed to help you achieve the overall aims of the programme and the learning outcomes for individual modules. As well as assessing your achievements, assessment enables you to organise and develop your learning. We'll provide feedback to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses.

Assessments fall into two general categories: formative and summative. Formative assessments don't contribute to your overall module grade. However, they are integral to a module's learning strategy, so you must complete them. They will be marked, and you'll receive feedback on your level of achievement. Summative assessments, on the other hand, are activities for which the marks will contribute to your overall module grade. You'll also receive feedback on these assessments so you can see what you've done well and where you can improve. We'll use various formative and summative assessments, such as essays, project work and written reports, oral and poster presentations, reflective assignments and a viva examination.

This programme adopts a blended learning and teaching style, including online delivery and engagement where appropriate.
