Dawn Fletcher-Wilde

Programme Lead/Senior Lecturer - Leadership programmes in Nursing

Dawn started her health and social care career in 2000, working for social services, she then joined the NHS in 2006 working in mental health and then acute hospital services at Bolton NHS FT where she worked until 2021. She was a distinctive and unique senior NHS leader of many years and has a very varied background within the NHS giving her a breadth of knowledge, skills and experience in clinical, operational and corporate NHS management and leadership. Her extensive experience and studies have given her specialist knowledge and a vast portfolio of transferable skills. She has delivered significant transformations, organisational restructures, and introduced new innovative ways of working within the NHS using evidence-based practice whilst holding positions such as Operational Business Manager.

Within her NHS portfolio she provided strategic leadership by advising board executives on governance priorities and risks ensuring that governance was a thread through all strategy, developments, and in policies and procedures as the Head of Information Governance and regisitered Data Protection Officer (DPO), certifying as a C-DPO in 2020, which is one of her specialist subjects.

She is as a role model, mentor and coach adopting a fully inclusive approach, being a passionate advocate for change and diversity, able to build diverse high performing teams, creating a culture in which talented people from all walks of life aspire, thrive and develop.

Dawn is a former student of the University, she studied on the first cohort offered by University of Bolton of the BSc (Hons) Chartered Manager Degree, Health and Social Care – Business Management, for which she achieved a first-class honours degree and governors prize for highest academic achievement, also becoming a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute.

In 2021 Dawn became a member of academic staff at the University when she was appointed as the Senior Lecturer for Leadership Programmes (level 6 and 7) within the school of Nursing and Midwifery, and in 2022 she become the Programme Lead for these. Since joining the University of Bolton, she has completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Supporting Learning in Professional and Higher Education, gained Fellowship in HE and is currently studying on a Masters Programme in Education with a view to becoming a Senior Fellow and undertaking a Professional Doctorate in the near future.
