University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
Emma qualified as a registered nurse in 2009 and was part of the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. Consolidated learning on MAU and then completed a 12-month acute care rotation programme with exposures to A and E, HDU and ICU.
Emma developed professionally in primary care and trauma and completed post graduate qualifications in high dependency defence nursing. She completed training in Hohne, Germany and served in Afghanistan on operations. After leaving the army Emma worked for the DWP as a disability analyst, functional assessor and new entry mentor.
Emma completed a master’s in clinical research through the University of Manchester and a diploma in management and leadership to develop the skills gained during an army career into a civilian accreditation through the CMI. She joined The University of Bolton in 2020 during lockdown as a lecturer and has taught on both pre and post registration courses whilst having undertaken a postgraduate certificate in education.
Research Interests and Research Subject Specialisms:
Emma has completed research into cervical screening, the use of nicotine replacement therapy as a cognitive enhancer for patients with Alzheimer’s dementia and the use of peer group clinical supervision in pre-registration nurse training.
