George Philip Nicholas Windsor

Patron of the Centre for Islamic Finance

The Earl of St Andrews (George Philip Nicholas Windsor) was born in 1962. He was educated at Eton College (Kings Scholar) and Downing College, Cambridge University, where he read history.

After a period in HM Diplomatic Service during which he served in New York (at the UK Mission to the UN) and Budapest, he worked for a number of years in the antiquarian book business, including at Christies UK. Recently he has been chairman of an Internet-based world history project, the Golden Web (2006-2012).

He is patron, chairman or trustee of a number of organisations, including the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation (trustee since 1996, chairman since 2005), SOS Children's Villages UK (trustee since 1999), the Association for International Cancer Research (patron since 1995), the Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation (patron since 1997), the Welsh Sinfonia (patron since 2011), the Next Century Foundation (member, advisory board, since 2012), the Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit, University of Cambridge (patron since 2012), and the Global eHealth Foundation (trustee since 2013).
