University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
I am a lecturer in the School of Education in the Faculty of Professional Studies. I teach on the BA (Hons) Education and Learning degree and I am a course tutor on the Initial Teacher Education 14+ programmes. I am also a personal tutor and research supervisor at both undergraduate and Masters level. I graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology before completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching Learners with Additional Needs at the University of Bolton.
I spent most of my early career teaching in an autism-specific, alternative provision. I have taught a wide range of learners with extremely broad profiles of needs across primary, secondary and further education. I have conducted consultancy work, where I supported a mainstream school to improve the organisation of their SEND provision. I have an MA in Inclusive Education (distinction), and my research interests include neurodiversity, relationships and teacher education. I am a passionate advocate for inclusion, equality and equity in education.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and the Society for Education and Training. I am currently working towards my Educational Doctorate. I aim to investigate the experiences of neurodiverse trainee teachers as they progress through their course and as they enter the education sector. The intended aim is to inform the development of supportive polices and practices, that can maximize success for diverse learners.
