University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
25/05/2022
Our ITE 14+ trainee teachers have just completed their Behaviour and Wellbeing Module.
Trainee teachers now have a comprehensive overview of the impact of mental health and wellbeing on teachers and their pupils. They can now identify and describe current legislation and policy related to promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding and have implemented action research on behaviour management within a range of teaching placements.
As part of their personal development, trainees have completed their LEAP digital badges online in Health and Wellbeing and have watched a webinar on ‘Behaviour Management’ with Teacher Educator Geoff Petty. They have taken part in ‘wellbeing walks’ and PGCE Student Arthur Hewitt led a Crafts and Collage workshop inspired by famous LGBT artists, to celebrate LGBT History Month. Trainees have also attended a range of guest lectures on: ‘Mindfulness’; ‘Supporting learners with anxiety and depression’ and taking part in a workshop ‘Gambling Awareness’.
Trainees are now starting to prepare for their student-led, subject specialist conferences throughout March and April, in which they will share best practices in their subject pedagogy with other trainees across the partnership. Their next module will focus on Curriculum and Assessment for Teaching and Learning in which trainees will be exploring and analysing their subject-specific curriculum, whilst devising creative tools for assessment.
There are fewer rewarding roles than being a teacher and inspiring students. The students at the University of Bolton have voted us No.1 for Student Satisfaction* for the past four years; as we put them, and their needs first.
