University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
After 5 years of working in the social housing sector and qualifying as a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, May decided to make a career change from social care to healthcare.
May qualified in 2015 as an Adult nurse and commenced her nursing career at the Royal Bolton hospital, working in Women’s healthcare and later Endoscopy. May describes herself as being academically ambitious and curious to develop own knowledge and skills. Subsequently in 2021 she enrolled on the MSc Health social care and wellbeing course at the University of Bolton. On completing her PG studies in 2022, she joined the University as a Work-based Trainer.
Research Interests and Research Subject Specialisms:
Registered Adult Nurse with research interest in women’s health; promoting and improving outcomes for women in relation to maintaining and maximizing their health and overall well-being, including improving access to health and social care support and services.
Research:
Masters research and dissertation report on ‘A critical appraisal of the impact of endometriosis on the health and wellbeing of women affected, current challenges in healthcare and strategies to improve the care women receive’, Feb, 2022.
