The University of Bolton hosted Radio 1 this week as Dean and Vicky broadcasted their afternoon show live from the campus.
Vicky, who is from Bolton, introduced Dean to her hometown when the Radio 1 mobile studio was set up at the University from Monday to Thursday this week.
Students took part in the show each day and also got the chance to meet and photograph the presenters, as well as tour the hi-tech studio.
Vicky still lives in Bolton and her career began as a volunteer at the community radio station Bolton FM. She has also hosted regular shows on BBC Radio Manchester and GAYDIO.
Vicky says: “It’s so nice to be broadcasting from Bolton and to hear so many Bolton voices on the radio. Lots of people from all over the town have been involved this week and I have loved it.
“It has been so exciting to show Dean my home town and everyone at the University of Bolton has been brilliant.”
Dean, who hails from Belfast, said: “We are having a great time. This is my first time in Bolton and it’s so lovely.
“The show only started in September and we always wanted to get out across as much of the UK as we possibly could, so it’s great to be bringing Radio 1 to Bolton.”
Nihit Tiwari, the University of Bolton Students’ Union President, said: “It was fantastic to have Radio 1 at the University, everyone has really enjoyed them being here, especially with Vicky being from Bolton.”
Dean and Vicky present the afternoon show on BBC Radio 1 (Monday – Thursday, 1pm-3:30pm). which airs Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 3:30pm.
It is the first-weekday programme to make the move from London to be broadcast from Salford as part of the BBC's ‘Across The UK’ initiative.
