Dr Raya Karaganeva

In 2015, Dr Raya Karaganeva qualified as a dental technician at Manchester Metropolitan University. She continued as a postgraduate student and in 2019 completed her PhD, which examined the effects of custom-made mouthguards on retention, comfort and physiological parameters during exercise. Afterwards, she became a Postdoctoral Researcher and worked together with Dental Trauma UK and the Dental Technologists Association to communicate and engage with dental professionals.

Whilst completing her PgCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, Dr Karaganeva spent three years as a Programme Support Tutor providing academic support to international students on Health Professions programmes and worked closely with academic and professional teams to enhance the students’ experience. Dr Karaganeva then progressed as a Lecturer in Dental Technology when she joined the University of Bolton in 2023 and currently teaches across all dental programmes.

Research Interests and Research Subject Specialisms:
Dr Karaganeva has previously delivered CPD seminars for Health Education England and has presented as invited speaker at the national and international conferences. Her research interests are primarily related to Sports Dentistry and contemporary developments in dental materials.
