Helen Wilson

Lecturer - Operating Department Practice

Helen qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1989. On qualifying, Helen moved to London working on an ENT and plastics ward at St Georges Hospital. Since moving back to the North West in the early 1990s Helen moved to Theatres where she worked in Anaesthetics.

Helen undertook her HE Dip in Peri-operative care which lead her on to working in PACU and on the scrub side. Helen joined the Territorial Army as a Captain and was deployed to Iraq in 2004 where she worked in ICU and on a surgical ward.

Helen has always been passionate about student education and has held the roles of Clinical Skills Facilitator in Theatres and as a Practice Education Facilitator where she was responsible for the education and welfare of ODP and nursing students.

Since retiring from the NHS, Helen has worked as a lecturer and Module Lead on the pre-registration nursing team and has recently moved over to the ODP team where she is module lead and personal tutor.
