Matt Gough

Programme Leader – Games Programming and Design

Matt is a veteran of the games industry and has worked for AAA giants such as Tt Games and smaller operations like SockMonkey Studios.

Graduating Teesside University in 2014 with a First-Class Honours in Games Programming, Matt spent several years freelancing, before jumping into Triple-A game development. In 2019, he left Triple-A to found his own company, where he and his team helped release several games through contract work.

Matt joined the University of Bolton in 2022 as a Senior Lecturer. After a year of teaching on the Games Programming course, he quickly assumed the role of Programme Leader for both Games Programming and Games Design. As well the leadership responsibilities, Matt still teaches the Programming course, specialising in C++ and Unity C#, and also leads the Bolton Game Jam Extra-Curricular event, which is constantly growing in ambition.

With a constant commitment to Graduate Outcomes, he strives to improve the courses at Bolton and continues to develop his own skills to stay current.

In his spare time, he still runs his company, EgoProblems, now operating as a solo developer.
