Professor John Clapham

John gained his PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Birkbeck College, University of London. He spent over 35 years working in drug discovery research in the UK and Sweden latterly as Executive Director of a large bioscience department. During this time, he was an Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick Medical School. In 2013 he joined the University of Buckingham where he was appointed Professor of Metabolic Disease Drug Discovery in the Clore Laboratory; he was one of the founding team for their medical school which he co-led through its approval process until the appointment of a substantive dean. He was promoted to Pro Vice Chancellor for Health and Research. John is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, a lay examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Professor Emeritus from the University of Buckingham.
