Rebecca Broadhead

Module Lead and Lecturer

Rebecca qualified as RN (Adult Nursing) in 1997 and worked as Staff Nurse on an acute medical ward for 2 years in Bolton. Following this was a move to Neo-Natal Unit for 1 year and on to complete a Diploma in Midwifery at the University of Salford.

Rebecca began to work as a Midwife in 2000 at Bolton Foundation Trust. During her time as a Midwife Rebecca completed her Degree in Midwifery and PGCE in Health and Social Care. In 2009 Rebecca left the hospital to work in the community as a School Nurse.

Her career as a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse began in 2014 at Bolton Foundation Trust where she went on to become a Looked After Children Specialist Nurse as part of a dual role. Much of Rebecca’s roles have been teaching and her love of education and learning has meant that she excelled here. Rebecca has always felt that her knowledge, evidence-based practice and experience needed to be passed on to others to benefit their education and for this reason Rebecca made the move to become a Lecturer at Bolton University in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Rebecca now holds the post of Module Lead and Lecturer in NRS5004 which is titled Wider Approaches to Global Health.
NRS5004 is an extremely interesting module. The aim of this module is to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes, which underpin health promotion, global health, and public health practice.
