Rowena Perry

Rowena studied for her undergraduate Masters in Biomedical Science at the University of Hull, during which she completed a training placement at the laboratory in Harrogate and District Hospital, allowing her to register as a Biomedical Scientist in 2014.

Rowena worked in the busy Haematology and Transfusion department at Royal Preston Hospital for several years, during which time she completed the Institute of Biomedical Science Specialist Diploma.

With a keen interest in training, Rowena became a registration portfolio verifier for the IBMS, and after a few years, she also became an examiner for the Specialist Diploma in her field of Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice. She also completed a post-graduate Masters in Haematology and Transfusion Science at Manchester Metropolitan University.

After moving to Royal Bolton Hospital for a Senior Biomedical Scientist post, Rowena completed the NHS Leadership Academy's Award in Healthcare Leadership. She has also taken on the additional role of Training Lead for the department of Laboratory Medicine. Rowena oversees the pre- and post-registration training of Biomedical Scientists, and has valuable experience with training placements and the registration training portfolio.
