Sarah Renahan

Lecturer

Sarah qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in 1998, and went on to work in Coronary Care, Intensive Care and District Nursing. In 2001 she completed an 18-month midwifery degree and went on to work as a Midwife in Neonatal Intensive Care before returning to university to complete her Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Postgraduate Diploma at Bolton University in 2009, qualifying as a health visitor in 2010.

Whilst working as a health visitor Sarah became a Community Practice Teacher after returning to Bolton University in 2015 to complete the Planning and Enabling Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Professional Practice Qualification. This inspired her to follow her passion for teaching, as supporting students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, had been a large part of her nursing career. Sarah went on to complete her MSc in Public Health Nursing at Bolton University. With a special interest in childhood trauma and adversity.

Sarah joined The University of Bolton in 2021 and is currently working as a Nurse Lecturer on the Trainee Nursing Associate Programme, completing her Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and becoming a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2022.

In 2023 Sarah won the Outstanding Lecturer of the Year Award for the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
