After receiving a DipHE in Health and Sport I commenced employment within the North West Ambulance Service in January 2008 as a Patient Transport care assistant. I progressed onto the Paramedic Emergency Services department as a Student Paramedic/Technician in 2009.

After 6 years of delivering front line emergency care I attended UCLan and progressed onto completing my Dip HE in Paramedic Practice and am registered on the HCPC since 2015.

I continued my studies and completed a Degree in Enhanced Paramedic Practice in which I received a First Class Hons. I then became a clinical trainer for Virgin Care whilst studying my PG Certificate in Teaching and Learning in the clinical setting.

During my time for Virgin care I was a module lead for the Anatomy and Physiology module for the Assistant Practitioner Foundation degree run by the University of Derby. I did this alongside teaching a range of clinical skills like the deteriorating patient, ECGs, Basic Life Support, conflict resolution, venepuncture and cannulation.

This was when I realised my passion was to teach full time and in a subject I am passionate about which is paramedic practice – therefore I was successful to join the team at the University of Bolton in June 2021 and have become the module lead for two modules within the first year of this new exciting undergraduate degree.

I continue to complete front line shifts for the North West Ambulance Service in order to deliver exceptional care to patients but to also remain updated with all policies and procedures and make sure my practice remains up to date. Therefore, all teaching is consistent and up to date with current guidelines. I also take part in any research fellow paramedics conduct within their front line duties in order to assist with valid results to assist with potential changes within our role, fully understanding how the Paramedic role is always evolving.
