Industry Factory Tours 2023
As part of the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering at Bolton University, we are lucky to enjoy a collaboration with our many industry partners, one of which is the established and much respected Prodrive, a leading independent motorsport company who are behind some of the greatest achievements in motorsport over the past few decades. They recently hosted an industry factory tour for our motorsport students; giving them a helpful insight into the Prodrive careers opportunities and business that will help students when applying for motorsport graduate jobs.
Let’s explore some of Prodrive’s greatest achievements:
- Four British Touring Car titles
- Five Le Mans titles
- Six World Rally titles
- Six World Endurance Championship titles
- In 2004, with Prodrive’s David Richards as Team Principal, the British American Racing (BAR) Honda Formula One team finished runners-up in the F1 Constructors’ Championship
The tour started with a warm welcome from Prodrive’s Human Resources Manager, Shaun Clayton, who gave us a full tour of their excellent facilities, including a behind-the-scenes look at their engineering, car building, and their heritage area.
We were also given the opportunity to speak to team members and get a feel for what they do on a daily basis. This included a discussion with their intern engineer, Matthew, who kindly gave us a rundown of his work on their current Subaru P25 project.
The day gave our students an excellent insight into the industry processes and a day in the life of a motorsport engineer.
