University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
BNV Hydrotherapy programme is a successful venture which includes an annual course for new users and on-going group-based programmes for those able to continue safely without the constant presence of the physiotherapist. The University of Bolton Physiotherapy Department is the new partner in this unique service.
Bolton Neuro Voices, a local registered charity, worked with a team of neuro-physiotherapists from SP Therapy Services in Bury to provide group-based hydrotherapy.
All sessions (divided into 30-minute slots) are on Wednesdays between 12 noon and 3pm and take place in the purpose-built hydrotherapy pool at the Sir Jason Kenny Leisure Centre at Bolton One, Moor Lane, Bolton. The pool has fully accessible changing facilities.
The course is open to anyone living with a neurological condition in Bolton and surrounding districts who can benefit from group-based exercises.
More than 200 people have had the opportunity to take part in the course to date. It is funded by Bolton Neuro Voices with just a token contribution of £25 from participants.
The next series of sessions will take place on Wednesdays between 5 March and 2 April 2025. Anyone interested can provide their details by complete the enquiry form below.
Successful participants will be contacted again for more information about two months before the course starts. The waiting list will close on the 31st of January 2025.
The continuation programmes (usually three per year roughly coinciding with school terms) have been running since 2014 and is open to people who have been on a course and are assessed to continue safely without professional supervision.
The group exercises are designed by the University of Bolton Physiotherapy Team who visits twice during each programme block. Participants are supported by a lifeguard and dry side volunteers.
