What is PAOW?

PAOW stands for Pledge, Act, Observe and Win. A collaborative project initiated by the University of Bolton and the former Bolton Students’ Union President (2021-23) to build a partnership with local communities working together towards cleaner streets.

Our vision

We aim to make an impact on the streets surrounding our communities. PAOW will be the superhero that ensures Bolton will strive in being a cleaner town.

PAOW AIMS

Aim 1

Business responsibilities

To encourage businesses to focus more towards cleaning the area around them and help the community being clean.
Encourage the customer to use bins when throwing the waste than littering on the streets.
Get their business promoted for the good work they do towards environment and helping out Council to keep the town cleaner.

Aim 2

University responsibilities

PAOW Observes the impact and promote the community for cleaning streets and being responsible.
Encourage communities to do litter picking around 5 meters of their premise.
Encouraging students to engage in litter picking through the campaigning, volunteering and PAOW social media.

How will it work?

Businesses becoming members

Get registered by signing up the business form.
Pledge with us to clean 5 meters around your premise
Sending us regular updates by sending pictures of the area they pledged for.
Display the PAOW livery on the main glass window to showcase your membership to the community.

How PAOW will benefit your business?

Business Promotions for being responsible

Community will appreciate your business for being responsible and taking care of the surroundings as it helps them to be in a safer and fresher environment.

Lead by example

Giving confidence to customers and the community of the commitment to PAOW will encourage fewer people to litter our streets and blight our communities.

Cleaner environment and safer to eat in

By cleaning the surrounding environment, the streets and facilities will be cleaner and will reduce pests, dirt and other hazards that can lead to social problems and business depletion.
