What does the Future Hold for Motorsport?

What does the Future Hold for Motorsport?

Motorsport has gone through many changes over the past few decades. From new safety rules and regulations to technological advancements and the move to more environmentally friendly racing, no aspect of motorsport or motorsport courses has remained untouched. Of course, changes occur across the sport every year, but the last couple of years have been particularly challenging, particularly with Covid. What does the future hold for those looking to work in motorsport and automotive performance engineering?

While the immediate future is unclear for motorsport there is still a need for well-trained and experienced graduates that understand performance engineering and can help develop the next generation of cars, engines and related technologies needed to keep the sport alive. At grassroots level many tracks, and training facilities remain closed with clubs are unable to meet. At the other end of the scale, Formula 1 is marching ahead with plans for the 2021 season but has already had to postpone the planned start of the season in Australia. While it may seem like it is all doom and gloom, there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The whole sport is looking for the best and the brightest performance engineers to find answers to the myriad of questions that environmental, financial, and health-related concerns have raised.

That is where you come in. The best and brightest from motorsport courses at top universities are the ones that can think outside the box, find solutions to problems and see potential difficulties before they even happen. You can only achieve this if you are studying a motorsport degree that prepares you for the reality of engineering and technology in the motorsport world. If you want to explore a degree in motorsport engineering, it needs to provide hands-on experience, access to purpose-built training facilities and labs, experienced lecturers and industry connections. The University of Bolton offers all this and much more when it comes to motorsport engineering.

Why Study at the National Centre for Motorsports?

The National Centre for Motorsports at the University of Bolton is purpose-built, £13 million centre for the study of performance motorsport engineering and technology.
