Zena is a Registered Nurse with a wide range of clinical experiences both within the acute and primary care settings. Since qualifying in 1999, Zena has held positions within general and burns intensive care units, district nursing, tissue viability nursing, medical and cardiothoracic surgical wards and practice-based education.
During this time, Zena developed a passion for teaching, supporting and developing students and colleagues alike, which led her to undertake educational roles. These roles initially commenced within clinical practice, but following the completion of the Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning, she transitioned into university education.
Zena joined the university in 2019 as a Lecturer on the FdSc Nursing Associate Programme, prior to becoming the Programme Lead in 2020. She now works as Senior Lecturer/ Programme Lead on the BSc Nursing Programme.
