University of Bolton, why we are the right choice
Location - Bolton, Greater Manchester
09/12/2022
If there’s one thing to remember about fashion, it’s that it never gets boring! With the rise of fast fashion and the popularity of social media influencers, there’s a new fashion trend every week.
2023 is going to be huge for the fashion industry, too; and luckily for you, we’re going to explore why! Read to find out what Vogue magazine is most excited about in 2023!
An Elevated Twist on Everyday Wear
When we think about an everyday outfit, jeans and an oversized shirt is a comfortable yet stylish option that you can’t go wrong with, and Vogue can’t be more excited to see this style flourish this year! Vogue regular, Kate Moss’s outfit also has consumers instantly reaching for the basics. As for shoes, ballet pumps have also seen an increase in popularity; and it looks like they are here to stay.
However, this is where we are expecting to see an elevated twist in everyday wear; seeing a shift in consumer purchase behaviour. People are slowly moving away from fast fashion trends and starting to favour luxury items that are being sold for a price that will serve as a long-term investment.
Fashion is for Everyone
Inclusivity in the fashion industry is something that has been lacking for some time, with the majority of models only representing smaller sizes, leaving a lack of representation for plus-size models. This has sparked social media conversations from hurt plus-size men and women calling for greater inclusivity. A key reason for this is that it is nearly impossible for those needing bigger sizes to get an idea of what items might look like on their body before purchasing the item. The fashion industry might have made developments with the new ‘try before you buy’ scheme, but this will always be restricted until the sector realises and understands that there is more than one body shape; it’s not one size fits all.
Luckily, this is a trend that is set to change this year as Vogue announces that the fashion world is planning the removal of gender stereotypes, and instead it will promote a spotlight on fluid fashion; clothing choices that are made for everyone.
Grunge with a Twist!
If you’ve come across grunge before, it wouldn’t typically strike you as something that is mainstream. However, this is set to change this year! Through the likes of undone knits, sultry slips, and tartan, the fashion world is expected to take a twist on typical grungy staples. If you’re wondering where this is likely to make most of its headway, the answer is in the vintage sector… so watch this space!
