Course Overview

With our population getting older, health policymakers are focusing increasingly on person-centred care, addressing age discrimination, and promoting health and independence. This stand-alone course gives you the opportunity to explore the major topics associated with this important public health agenda.

We’ll guide you to examine older people’s various health needs, explore demographic changes, and study the impact that government policies have had on healthcare in practice settings. We’ll also support you to explore the older generations’ physical and mental-health needs, along with the strategies developed to meet those needs.

On successful completion, you’ll be able to demonstrate an understanding of the physical, psychological and social aspects of ageing.

This course encourages you to develop skills much sought-after by employers, and is designed to support your development as a healthcare professional. It’s also suitable if you’re working in the voluntary sector and have an interest in holistic approaches to care for older people.
