A professor from the University of Bolton’s Greater Manchester Business School has edited a new book about how to be an effective leader during a crisis.
Professor Christian Harrison has also contributed to ‘Leadership During a Crisis: A Focus on Leadership Development’.
The book provides a powerful perspective on the role of effective leadership in challenging and changing times.
It brings together contemporary perspectives on the impact of disasters, leading in a time of crisis and the value of leadership in surviving a serious crisis.
Professor Harrison, who is from Nigeria, said: “I am very excited that this new book is now available.
“It has been enriched by a diversity of authors' voices and contexts and it covers important areas such as learning, leadership development, crisis, optimism, ethics, authenticity, influence and the ever-present concerns of individual agency and collective action.
“It provides an important, timely and insightful contribution to the field of leadership and leadership development.”
Last month, Professor Harrison received a top leadership honour from the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He was presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the growth and development of engineering profession and practice in Nigeria.
It was his second award in a matter of months. Last year he received the Award for Excellence from the New-Life Recovery Hub at the Annual Top Flyer Awards and Multi-cultural Night held in Glasgow. The New-Life Recovery Hub is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals from all walks of life who are battling addictions and traumatic experiences.
