Programme Approval, Modifications and Closures

Strategic Approval Process

The arrangements for securing outline approval to develop a new taught programme that leads to a University award, are given here:

All new and modified programme proposals require Strategic Approval before any significant development work is undertaken.

To obtain this approval a completed Academic Development Strategic Proposal (ADSP) form should be submitted to the Head of Standards and Enhancement (Operations).

An up-to-date programme specification and a set of up to date module specifications are required in order to support a proposal for approval of a new or modified programme. The specifications should be developed in the programme and module databases, located here:

Modifications

Modification to an existing programme requires approval and this can be obtained, as follows:

Via a Change Approval Form (CAF) for relatively simple, low credit changes;

Or via a Programme Reconfiguration Approval Form (PRAF) for more major changes

SEO will determine which form should be used on a case by case basis and programme developers are advised to contact SEO in cases where more than 60 credits of changes are required to assess the route to be taken.

The procedure to be followed is documented in Process Guide - Approval for Modification to Module and/or Programme Specifications

Closures

Programme Closure or Suspension requires approval from Programmes Committtee as follows:

A completed Programme Suspension and Closure Form (PSCF) should be submitted to the Standards and Enhancement Office.
