The Princess of Wales: An Advocate for Early Years Development

Children are known for being a small bundle of joy. ‘Children will be children’ as many of us say. 

Have you ever wondered how The Princess of Wales keeps Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis well-behaved during royal events? Well, it turns out that Kate Middleton has her own secret code for doing this. 

Kate has also been hitting the headlines for her campaign work in the early years’ development sector. If you’ve read about this and find it inspiring, and want to know how you can follow in her footsteps, read on. 

‘Let’s Take a Break’  

Many of you might remember the young, mischievous Prince Louis sticking his tongue out at his mother during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, right? In this case, you’ll also know that Kate’s reaction was praised by a team of expert commentators for how she managed to calm her son down. But how did she do it? It turns out that she uses a secret code to calm her children when they begin to misbehave in public; and that is that she simply says ‘let’s take a break’. This acts as their sign to behave and sit still, and we can be sure that there is likely to be consequences at home if they don’t listen!  

Kate Middleton’s ‘Life Work’ Campaign  

Probably the biggest reason why Kate is proving to be such an inspiration in the early years’ sector is due to her ‘Life’s Work’ campaign. Aspiring to call the project ‘Shaping Us’, the aim is to highlight the significance of the formative years of a child’s life, and subsequently raise the profile of children’s early years’ development.  

Kate believes that the first few years of a child’s life are critical in terms of shaping the person that they will become as an adult, so we need to lay the foundations that help them progress as they grow, and develop.  

Kate’s work is a long-term development that is bound to have a major impact on not only children themselves but also the passionate and caring individuals who are looking to enter the early years’ industry.
