The NHS faces a crisis as it attempts to recruit enough nurses and midwives to keep up with the needs of a growing society. With the demand for these roles higher than ever, the University of Bolton provides courses and programmes that respond directly to the requirements of the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). This means our students are taught everything they need to know to work in an NHS workplace, preparing them for the working world as soon as they graduate.
Become a midwife
Midwives provide care and support to women and their families throughout pregnancy, during labour and for a short period after the baby’s birth. Offered in partnership with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the University of Bolton’s pre-registration Midwifery degree aims to give you the experience and skills to join this demanding yet rewarding career.
You’ll spend 50% of your time in midwifery practice placements at our partner Trust. The rest of your studies will be based at the University, increasing your theoretical understanding and practical knowledge in a way that complements and enhances your learning in the workplace.
Become a nurse
Nurses are vital to the modern healthcare field. Nursing is considered to be the most honest, trusted, and ethically-sound profession in the UK today. Our Nursing courses aim to give you the experience and skills needed to join this demanding yet rewarding career.
We’ll work to prepare you to become a confident, professional nurse, able to deliver and lead adult care within an ever-changing environment.
On successful completion of our nursing qualification, you’ll possess the knowledge and skills you need to perform as an independent, highly competent, compassionate nurse who can be trusted to maintain professional standards and assure the protection of the public.
