Course Overview
The University of Bolton's professional development course in Negotiated Studies aims to help you develop knowledge and skills for a specific aspect of your role that will benefit you and your employer. You can choose the area of focus. You may wish to explore a particular issue affecting your work, develop your clinical skills or pursue further study. We'll work with your employer (where possible) to negotiate appropriate learning outcomes and assessment strategies. You'll also have the opportunity to outline plans for your own development and negotiate a programme of study that meets the necessary criteria.During the work-based programme, you'll be largely responsible for your learning and demonstrating your achievements. We'll also expect you to review your development and assessment plans critically.

Entry Requirements
- You must have appropriate current employment in health or social care.
- You'll also need to demonstrate your readiness to study at Level HE6 (honours level). Normally, you'll have successfully completed a foundation degree, diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
- Please note that this course is subject to the University of Bolton's Fitness to Practise procedure.

Fees & Funding
Home/EU Fees
Home students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Home fee of £800 for the academic year 2024/25.
International Fees
Overseas students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Overseas fee of £800 for the academic year 2024/25.

Important note regarding tuition fees for the 2024-25 academic year: EU nationals who meet residency requirements (have settled or pre-settled status) may be eligible for 'Home' fee status. If you do not meet these residency requirements, overseas fees will apply. Irish citizens living in the UK or Ireland will be eligible for 'Home' fee status under the Common Travel Area arrangement. The fees for a student's course of study will be set for the normal duration of that course subject only to inflationary increases – measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded in March each year to take effect for subsequent start dates.

International applications are not possible for this course
As an international student you are not allowed to study this course because of the restrictions on your visa.

Teaching & Assessment
You'll need to attend lectures that introduce the aims and objectives of the programme. They will help you establish a learning framework that will support you in meeting the programme's learning outcomes.
To help you achieve your personal and professional goals, your supervisor will offer support and advice on developing your area of study through a series of individual tutorials. We adopt a blended learning and teaching style, including online delivery and engagement where appropriate.
You'll have the opportunity to submit a sample of work to meet one or more of the learning outcomes. We expect you to complete this formative assessment and will offer you feedback so you can see what you have done well and identify areas that need further development.
