Talented students celebrate awards at University of Bolton Creative Arts Show

Students and their families celebrated at the annual Creative Arts Show Awards prizegiving ceremony at the University of Bolton.The awards, covering a wide range of arts disciplines, were handed out by the Head of the University’s School of Arts and Creative Technologies, Sam Johnson.She said: “Congratulations to everyone, your work is incredible and you should all be very proud.”Neill Gorton, CEO of Millennium FX and a Visiting Professor at the University of Bolton, presented some awards.He said: “I have a 10 year association with Bolton and some of the students have come to work with and it is great to see the next generation of students coming through.”

As well as the awards, visitors were treated to displays of outstanding pieces of work created by students.

Sam added: “We appreciate the investment from the university and it is a privilege for me to open the show and our students’ wonderful work.”The owner of local business Nuffy’s Models, in Great Moor Street, James Lowe, sponsored three of the modelmaking awards.

First and second placed students won vouchers to spend in his Great Moor Street store and third place will be put on display in the shop window.James said: “I have been really impressed with the standard of work done by the students, it is incredible.”Students, their families and invited guests toured the displays which feature work from programmes including Animation and Illustration; Fashion; Film and Media Production; Fine Art; Graphic Design; Photography; Special Make-Up Effects for Film and Television; Special Effects for Film and Television; Special Effects Model Making for Film and Television; Textiles and Surface Design; Visual Effects and Animation; MA via Creative Practice and MA Visual Journalism and Storytelling.
