The University of Bolton, Greater Manchester forges AI and tech innovation partnership with major North West company

The University of Bolton, Greater Manchester has signed a memorandum of understanding with North West company Maywoods Ltd to help develop the next generation of AI and software engineers

The partnership with Maywoods, a software and health informatics business, will enhance the delivery of innovative technologies across the region and enable students to collaborate with industry experts to develop novel digital solutions.

‘Delivering software solutions to multisectoral industries’ will help to support students as they develop projects and receive crucial guidance from industry experts.

It will also:

• Improve access to advanced/novel AI technology for students

• Build digital engineering capacity and capability in the North West

• Provide greater employability for students

• Strengthen industry and University of Bolton, Greater Manchester partnerships to boost prosperity in the region

Sam Johnson, Head of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, at the University of Bolton, Greater Manchester, said: “We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Maywoods.

“As we move towards a dynamic digital future for the North West, it is important that students obtain ‘real world’ projects designed to enhance their employability and this collaboration provides students a wonderful opportunity to develop and apply their knowledge to create innovative digital solutions to address problems in the workplace.”

Sam added: “This partnership will help students to demonstrate the transferability of their technological skills, preparing them for successful careers in multiple sectors.

“Working with Maywoods will strengthen the research and development capacity at the University of Bolton, Greater Manchester, where we are committed to fostering innovation and academic excellence. We look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration.”

Maywoods has extensive experience of developing the Shared Care Record across Lancashire, South Cumbria, Cheshire and Wirral and Merseyside. Its innovative approach to interoperability has resulted in a suite of digital audit tools and clinical analytic tools which have been supplied to over 25 NHS Trusts in the UK.
